Importing Journals - one for the accountants!

Submitted Nov 10 in Announcements

We are pleased to announce our latest improvement to Clever Accounts which we hope will benefit Accountants and more experienced or complex businesses.

You can now import from a Journal template (csv format) directly into the system so that regular journals need not be posted manually.

Please login and click on Accounts Maintenance then Import.  Click on Browse to find your file and click OK.  The file will be uploaded and you can make any last minute changes to any of the journals.  Once completed, click on Import

This will help with the following processes:

1.       Weekly or monthly Wages / PAYE journal that are posted to the same codes but may differ in the amounts

2.       If you have a set template to post takings etc into the system instead of using the customer invoice route.

3.       If you post depreciation on a regular basis

4.       End of year adjustments by accountants

Because we need to import a set template, you will need the attached file and follow the example as to how to enter the details.  You will also need to remember to save the file as a CSV file in excel.

This is the first update in the importing series which will add in the ability to upload invoices, customer & supplier accounts and online bank statements to name a few.

If you can think of any further imports that will help you, then please let us know.

Starting any new software is daunting enough, especially when its accountancy based and is usually the reason why small businesses rarely change their own.

The essential tasks to complete before using Clever Accounts in earnest are:

  1. Once sign up, look around the system to get a feel of the navigation
  2. Read the getting started help manual (see below)
  3. Set up your bank account(s)
  4. Set up customer / suppplier accounts
  5. Enter any opening balances from previous period

To explain in greater we have thankfully provided a helpful getting started manual that leads you through each step of the way whether you are a new start up or transferring from another package.
